
Department of Biochemical Diagnostics
The Clinical Biochemistry Department implements good laboratory practice and quality diagnostics, which is in accordance with the international standard for medical laboratories SRPS ISO 15189:2014, as confirmed by the issuance of an accreditation certificate by the Accreditation Body of Serbia (ATS).
The Clinical Biochemistry Department tests more than 60 different diagnostic parameters in the field of general biochemistry and specific parameters in the field of heart, lung, and liver pathology, high-sensitivity troponin, Pro-BNP, angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), adenosine deaminase (ADA), immunochemistry (immunoglobulins A, M, G, and E, alpha-1-antitrypsin, haptoglobin), markers of inflammation and septic conditions (C-reactive protein, procalcitonin), hematology, and coagulation (D-DIMER).
The equipment of the Clinical Biochemistry Department is automated and consists of single-channel and multi-channel biochemical analyzers, Mindray BS 400 and BT 1500 biotechnica, hematology counters 5-DIFF, Horiba ABX 80 and Sysmex XS 500 automated coagulation devices ACL ELITE PRO and STAGO SATELLITE, immunochemical analyzer Mini-Vidas, electrolyte ion-selective analyzers, etc.
Daily internal quality control as well as participation in external quality control EQAS-BIORAD ensures the accuracy, precision, and reliability of the obtained results.
The Service employs 22 workers: 3 specialists in medical biochemistry, 3 senior laboratory technicians, and 12 laboratory technicians.
All employees in the Service are active in acquiring new knowledge through educational meetings, innovation courses, and professional seminars both domestically and abroad, as well as in following professional literature.
