The Institute for Lung Diseases of Vojvodina is an institution that, since its establishment, has engaged in both healthcare and scientific research activities. The founders of the Institute have been recognized as leaders in scientific research since the mid-20th century. In the 1960s, a significant number of studies were conducted at the Institute, the results of which were published in the most prominent European and global scientific journals at the time.
Parallel to the development of healthcare activities, significant advancements in scientific research have occurred over the years. In recent years, the Institute for Lung Diseases of Vojvodina has positioned itself as a top scientific and research institution that has taken a leading role in the region.
Today, the Institute conducts a large number of scientific and research projects daily in the fields of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, respiratory infections, bronchial cancer, modern invasive diagnostics, and thoracic surgery. The Institute is a healthcare institution with the highest number of clinical studies in the field of respiratory medicine in Vojvodina. In addition to clinical studies initiated by foreign partners, the Institute is also one of the few healthcare institutions in Serbia that conducts its own academic research studies, which are entirely designed and implemented by the healthcare professionals of the Institute.
The research team of the Institute coordinates and implements a large number of city, provincial, national, and international projects in the fields of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of respiratory diseases. In recent years, the Institute has been a partner of the European Commission in the implementation of Horizon 2020 category projects.
The scientific contribution of the doctors and associates of the Institute for Lung Diseases of Vojvodina can be most easily assessed through the large number of published scientific papers that are now an integral part of clinical guidelines from major global professional associations.
