
Department of Organization, Planning, Evaluation, and Medical Informatics
The Department of Organization, Planning, Evaluation, and Medical Informatics is responsible for the collection, control, and processing of legally mandated health-statistical data regarding the health status in the domain of pulmonary diseases.
The collected data from the field of diagnostic procedures, treatment, and rehabilitation are processed and analyzed, forming the basis for the creation of various statistical reports (internal and external).
In addition to monitoring diagnostic procedures, treatment, and rehabilitation programs, the department also tracks and studies the prevalence and trends of pulmonary diseases in the population, based on which it proposes and implements measures for promotion, prevention, and control, as well as suggestions for programs for prevention, early detection, timely treatment, and rehabilitation. The department’s task also includes monitoring the implementation of programs and evaluating the results of work.
The department performs:
- tasks in the field of medical informatics, healthcare organization, and health economics in accordance with applicable legal regulations,
- education of personnel in the domain of health informatics,
- the department maintains a Registry of Bronchial Carcinoma,
- collaboration with the Department of Information Systems and Technologies to improve the hospital information system,
- collaboration with the Department of Clinical Research,
- monitoring the quality of work at the Institute,
- tasks related to translation and correspondence concerning international cooperation,
- performing tasks related to monitoring the quality of work at the Institute,
- performs tasks related to the assessment of patient and employee satisfaction at the Institute,
- participates in the preparation of health statistical reports of the Institute,
- produces periodic statistical reports on the activities of the Institute,
- manages the computer processing of discharge lists for patients treated at the Institute for Lung Diseases and pulmonary inpatient units in Vojvodina,
- collects and controls daily records of patient movements in the hospital – inpatient unit (admission, transfer, discharge of patients),
- collects, sorts, and numbers medical histories and submits them to the archive,
- refers discharge summaries to outpatient clinics
- In December 2015, at the level of the Institute for Lung Diseases of Vojvodina, a Hospital Infection Team was formed, consisting of an epidemiologist and a nurse-technician for the surveillance of hospital infections (HI), in accordance with the provisions of the applicable Regulation on the Prevention, Early Detection, and Control of Hospital Infections. The Hospital Infection Team monitors the epidemiological situation regarding hospital infections at the level of the Institute and prepares reports that are submitted to the director and discussed at the meetings of the Commission for the Protection Against Hospital Infections of the Institute for Lung Diseases of Vojvodina (meetings are held at least twice a year, and more frequently if necessary, depending on the current epidemiological situation).
The Hospital Infection Team, in addition to epidemiological surveillance of hospital infections, implements measures to prevent the further spread of hospital infections to other patients, monitors the implementation of recommended measures, and carries out all necessary organizational, educational, and other activities aimed at the prevention and control of hospital infections in order to elevate patient safety during the provision of healthcare to the highest possible level, while minimizing hospital infections.
